What made you come to LIFT?
LIFT provided the perfect balance of what I was looking for after graduating law school. I was able to work in a field that I was passionate about and actively contribute to my community.
What is the best part of your job?
Witnessing firsthand the impact LIFT has on the lives of thousands of litigants. Many of the individuals who walk into the court, are new to the court system. Often times they are frustrated, anxious, and confused, and obtaining an attorney is not always an option. We are usually the first person they see when walking into court, and we are able to talk over their options and clarify the process. Once you’re done speaking to them, you know that you’ve made this taxing process just a bit more manageable.
Who inspires you?
My parents. They came to this country many years ago and worked ridiculously hard to achieve the American dream. Through their struggles, they never gave up and never hesitated to put the needs of others before their own. They sacrificed much so I could pursue my dreams and still managed to provide a nurturing, loving and supporting environment. They motivate me to become a better person each day.
How do you know LIFT is helping people?
I see it every day in court, where people seek us out to ask questions and set up appointments. I see it with the court staff that many times direct individuals to me with questions. I see it with Judges and Magistrates who commend us on the work we do and will also refer individuals to us. Most importantly I see it with the many people who express their gratitude or come back to us to update us on their case.
LIFT is turning 20 in 2016, what is your anniversary wish for LIFT?
Happy Birthday LIFT! I wish that you continue to grow and continue the positive impact you have had on the lives of millions.
What does the future look like for LIFT?
Very bright! I sincerely hope LIFT continues to grow and that those who have the power to contribute and help our organization grow, become involved in our mission.
What are you doing when you’re not at LIFT?
Spending time with my 5 year old Maltese, Lucy. Exploring my neighborhood. Going for swims, practicing yoga and acupuncture to unwind. Saturday dinners with my friends is a must. Supporting my NY Mets, always and forever!
